Students will learn about creating applications for mobile phones. Students will work through the basics of programming, including how to: access contact list, use GPS sensors, get data from the internet and use other features. By the end of the week, students will be able to create their own basic apps. The class will have a set of mobile devices for testing and development. This is an advanced course. Students will be expected to have taken at least one Java programming class prior to attending this workshop.

Advanced Bioinformatics

The Advanced Bioinformatics session will step into bioinformatics in a hands-on way. Students will learn how to use typical bioinformatics tools, how to use publicly available biomedical databases, and even some basic level programming to solve typical bioinformatics problems - identifying the genetic basis for common diseases and aging. At the end of the week, students will use these new skills in a bioinformatics based scavenger hunt to demonstrate how individual creativity factors into this area of science. This course is a change from learning the "what" and focuses more on the "how" of bioinformatics. 

Bioinformatics or have some programming knowledge (Perl, Python, Java, or C) required.  


Photoshop

Advanced Web Development

Now that you know how to make web pages, how do you make them “do things?”  This class will teach you how to add interactive components to your pages and connect your pages with your favorite social networks like Instagram and Twitter.

Must have taken Web Development.


  • For workshops with projects, parents are invited to attend a reception on Friday where students show the work they completed during the week.
  • For full-day workshops, students must bring a sack lunch and beverage.  Snacks will be provided but no lunch.

Registration Information
  • Students can sign up for one or all of these workshops. Space is limited and students will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
  • Cost is $150.00 for half-day workshops (Registration fee is non-refundable). Payment must be received within one week of registration to keep your spot.
  • If registering one child for more than one workshop or registering more than one child from the same household for workshops, a 20% discount will be given on the 2nd and subsequent enrollments.
  • If a workshop is canceled due to low enrollment, refunds will be made.  If a multiple registration discount has been received, the discounted registration fee will be refunded.
